The Office of International Cooperation (OIC) at SIMAD University is proud to introduce the first-ever SIMAD NextGen Cohort I. This flagship initiative is designed to prepare students for success in both local and global arenas by equipping them with the mindset, skills, and networks needed to become leaders who will Think Globally, Act Locally, and Lead Always.

Following the official call for applications earlier this month, SIMAD NextGen attracted highly motivated students eager to join the leadership pipeline. Applicants were required to demonstrate academic excellence, English proficiency, and leadership potential. After a rigorous shortlisting and interview process, six outstanding students were selected to form the inaugural cohort for the academic year 2025–2026.

We extend our warm congratulations to the selected students who will proudly represent SIMAD as members of the first NextGen Cohort. These young leaders were chosen not only for their academic performance but also for their openness, collaborative spirit, and commitment to driving positive change within their communities.

As members of Cohort I, the selected students will:

• Engage in cross-cultural collaboration with peers worldwide.
• Access capacity-building workshops, conferences, and competitions.
• Receive mentorship from the OIC and global partners.
• Design and implement community-impact projects that put leadership into practice.
• Contribute to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting sustainability-focused initiatives within and beyond SIMAD University.

The Office of International Cooperation commends the dedication of all applicants and celebrates the achievements of the five selected students. “They are not only representing themselves but also carrying forward the spirit and excellence of SIMAD University,” said Abdiwahab Isak, Director of the Office of International Cooperation.

Cohort I will serve from September 2025 to September 2026, marking the beginning of a long-term leadership pipeline at SIMAD University. With the launch of this first cohort, SIMAD University reaffirms its commitment to nurturing global citizens and empowering the next generation of leaders.
