Kick-off Meeting for the PURSUE Project Successfully Held in Tanzania
SIMAD University is proud to be part of the transformative PURSUE (Promoting Sustainable, Affordable Housing Construction Technologies Using Environmentally Sound Locally Available Resources) Project. Co-funded by the Erasmus+ CBHE program, the PURSUE Project brings together esteemed institutions from across the globe. The recent kick-off meeting at the Dar Es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) in Tanzania marked an important milestone in the journey toward implementing this visionary initiative.

A Global Effort for Local Solutions
The kick-off meeting wasn’t just about planning and strategy. It also provided a unique opportunity to engage with local communities. During the field excursion to Stone Town, Zanzibar, participants gained valuable insights into the traditional construction techniques and materials that are integral to sustainable housing in the region. This hands-on experience reinforced the importance of locally available resources in creating cost-effective and environmentally friendly housing solutions.
Next Steps
With the kick-off successfully completed, the PURSUE Project is now transitioning into its implementation phase. As a partner, SIMAD University will contribute to curriculum development, research initiatives, and the dissemination of findings across the consortium. A dedicated website will soon be launched, offering a central platform for stakeholders to access resources, stay updated on project progress, and share knowledge.
This project represents a significant step in addressing the housing challenges faced by communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Through collaborative efforts, SIMAD University and its partners are poised to make a lasting impact on the construction industry by promoting sustainable, affordable housing solutions.
We look forward to keeping our community informed about the exciting developments in the PURSUE Project and our continued efforts to promote education, innovation, and sustainability in Somalia and beyond.
